Every day is Earth Day at MW Metals Group in Dayton Ohio. In 1955, we were pioneers in reclaiming scrap metal. Iron and metal recycling contributes to natural resource conservation and pollution reduction.

Recycling scrap metal saves energy which reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. According to the Steel Recycling Institute, the energy saved by reclaiming scrap steel is equal to the energy required to power over 17 million homes per year. Although U.S. steel production increased from 1994 to 2001, GHG emissions from steel industries fell by 25%, which is well below Kyoto Protocol levels. Reclaiming metals also diverts waste from landfills, saving about 1.8 million cubic yards of landfill space annually. That’s more than the volume contained in 12,000 standard size car garages.

We are a charter member of RIOS, Recycling Industry Operating Standard, sponsored by ISRI, Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries. ISRI specifically addresses concerns of the scrap recycling business. RIOS focuses on quality, environmental and health & safety (QEH&S) aspects of metals recycling. Like the Mobius recycling symbol, MW Metals Group provides a continuous loop of services to suppliers. We can be an effective partner to those companies who choose to be “green.”
